Victoria Covid-19 outbreak: Melbourne lockdown set to extend after cluster

Six new locally acquired Covid-19 cases were confirmed on Wednesday, bringing the state’s cluster to 60. With positive cases continuing in the state, senior ministers met health officials for a “high-level briefing” surrounding the situation and the possibility of extending the state’s fourth lockdown on Tuesday night. Officials have not confirmed the extension but multiple reports suggest it will carry on beyond its Thursday deadline. “Chief health officer Brett Sutton’s team was leaning strongly toward recommending a lockdown extension,” it reads. An extension to the lockdown is being considered by health officials and senior government ministers tonight.
