The state was thrown into lockdown earlier this month after two separate outbreaks spread throughout Melbourne and parts of regional Victoria. Today and yesterday the state recorded zero locally acquired cases, and Monday’s single locally acquired case was already in quarantine. Acting Premier James Merlino is expected to announce the eased restrictions today, with the state keeping with its 11.59pm Thursday tradition of when the changes come into place. Weddings and funerals will be allowed up to 300 people, with Victoria’s chief health officer Professor Brett Sutton hinting at the increase yesterday. Regional Victorians will also see their lighter restrictions eased again, with life returning to almost normal for those living outside Melbourne.
