Approvals for quarantine bubbles have paved the way for the World Surf League to make a huge Australian presence in 2021, with a new event at North Narrabeen in Sydney rounding out a blockbuster four-event schedule. The new Rip Curl Narrabeen Classic will be the first event staged in the surfing heartland since the World Junior Championships over a decade ago. “Although it’s genuinely disappointing to miss locations like Bells Beach and Snapper Rocks this year, we are stoked to add Newcastle, North Narrabeen and Rottnest Island to the schedule. Two-time world champion Damien Hardman, a Narrabeen legend, said the new event was massive for the northern beaches, which had been sent into lockdown following a COVID-19 outbreak over Christmas. THE AUSTRALIAN LEG OF THE WSLAll tour stops and dates subject to change due to applicable COVID-19-related restrictions, including global travel restrictions.
