Gymea Bay: Woman and dog rescued from house fire

Ms Fletcher said she had organised community members who knew what to do to help the animals and provided online resources to assist them. Emergency services, including more than 20 firefighters, found the home “well alight” when they were called to Valley Way in Gymea Bay just after 4am on Wednesday. A 57-year-old woman and her dog had evacuated the property. She was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation before being taken to Sutherland Hospital for observation. Officers from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command established a crime scene and investigations are ongoing.
