Cumberland Mayor Steve Christou has launched an Arms Out in August campaign, which aims to have 100,000 residents vaccinated by the end of the month. The LGA in Sydney’s southwest currently has the lowest rate of fully vaccinated residents in NSW at just 14.6 per cent. Cumberland includes suburbs such as Merrylands, Lidcombe, Auburn and Granville and is one of eight high-risk LGAs subject to a tighter lockdown. Mr Christou said his plan would work, but only with the help of the state government.
