NSW chief health officer Dr Kerry Chant has been named the Premier’s Woman of the Year for her management of the coronavirus pandemic. It’s the highest accolade in the NSW Women of the Year Awards. “Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Chant has been a familiar face, offering vital health information for our state in addition to years of service to the health sector,” NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said. Minister for Women Bronnie Taylor also threw her support behind the state’s top doctor, saying she is an “inspiration to all women”. It’s a busy day for Dr Chant, who will join the Premier and Health Minister Brad Hazzard to receive their first doses of the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine later on Wednesday.
